What is UK Theatre?
UK Theatre is the UK’s leading membership organisation for theatre and the performing arts.
Whether it's through sharing knowledge, bringing you together with the right people or providing practical advice, UK Theatre supports your professional development.
UK Theatre supports theatre and performing arts organisations and individuals who work professionally in the performing arts at any stage of their career. Our Members have access to a range of tailored benefits to suit the needs of you and/or your organisation.
Our services include:
Training, conferences and events
We are one of the biggest providers of professional training courses in the performing arts in the UK, ranging from one-day session to acclaimed week-long residencies. Our national conferences and event include key fixtures including the Touring Symposium, Members Lunch and UK Theatre Awards, as well as specialist conferences covering Front of House, Press and PR, Finance and Business Management and Box Office. All Members receive substantial discounts to these.
Networking and mentoring
UK Theatre provides fantastic networking opportunities for performing arts professionals across the UK, hosting UK-wide networking and briefing meetings as well as national events. We also run a mentoring scheme that promotes the sharing of experience and industry knowledge between Members at all stages of their careers.
UK Theatre lobbies local and national government to ensure that the sector’s voice is heard. Working with partners we run the My Theatre Matters! campaign in partnership with Equity and The Stage, and our audience development initiative the Family Arts Campaign promotes the importance of making families welcome in theatres.
UK Theatre Awards
The annual UK Theatre Awards celebrate professional excellence, and are the only awards to honour the achievements of performing arts all over the UK. The 2014 Awards saw the My Theatre Matters! Most Welcoming Theatre Award being voted for by over 49,000 members of the public.
Employment Relations & Legal Services
Organisation Members and Concert Hall Affiliate Members can get one-to-one legal advice from our in-house lawyers and our Employment Relations team supports members by helping to resolve disputes and negotiating contracts with industry unions.
